Rebecca Alexander Historical crime and fantasy fiction

About me

A recovering psychologist who took to writing, I read crime, historical and fantasy in more or less equal parts. Those genres seem to overlap a little in the novels I write.

The books are grounded in beautiful places, like Dartmoor, The New Forest and The Lake District. The landscapes seem to hold stories like shadows, you come across them on windy days or dark evenings. Characters whisper from old walls and shaded woodland.

Jackdaw Hammond lives on the edges of society holding the secrets of sixteenth century sorcery.

Dr Sage Westfield excavates the traces of historical crimes - while finding murder in the present.

Professor Felix Guichard lives across both series, balancing his scientific research into the arcane with his personal experience of it.

Deep in the past, Edward Kelley, some time scientist, sorcerer and traveller, threads his way through history.
